Next Tuesday is the 28th November, which marks the sixth annual #GivingTuesday.
#GivingTuesday is now a global giving movement. It is a beautiful global day of impact, fuelled by the power of social media and collaboration.
Right after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks start the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
This year is set to be the biggest #GivingTuesday ever. Here’s why.
On this global day of giving Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation are matching up to $2 million of funds raised on Facebook for nonprofits.
Donations to nonprofits made through Facebook’s charitable giving tools on November 28th will be matched up to $50,000 per nonprofit or $1,000 per fundraiser or donate button, until the $2 million in matching funds run out. The match will begin at 8AM EST (5AM PST). Facebook is also waiving its fees for donations made to nonprofits on Facebook this #GivingTuesday. Make the most of this matching opportunity by leveraging the power of Facebook’s charitable giving tools.
Facebook fees on donations to Beyond the Orphanage will be waived from 12:00am EST on November 28, 2017 to 11:59pm HST on November 28, 2017.
You can find Beyond the Orphanage on Facebook here.
Our Christmas appeal needs urgent funds to work towards a safe haven for the Street kids of Kenya.
On #GivingTuesday, you can donate to our Christmas appeal and help us achieve this incredible milestone. BTO’s Alfajiri Street Kids program needs your generosity to provide a safe haven for young people who are living on the streets. They are encouraged to attend Art workshops away from the slums, the danger and the drugs, to draw, paint, and sketch. Read more about our partner program, Alfajiri Street Kids here.
