Meet our ambassadors

Our ambassadors work closely with Beyond the Orphanage to promote our work in Australia and abroad.

Leigh Colbert

Leigh Colbert is a former Australian Rules footballer playing for the Geelong and Kangaroos Football Clubs. He was drafted in the 1992 National Draft at pick No.18. He made his debut with Geelong in 1993 and was awarded Geelong’s captaincy in 1999 at the age of 22. Leigh retired in 2005 after playing a total of 209 games.

Post Football, Leigh had a stint in the coaches box as a part-time assistant coach at the West Coast Eagles and also in the commentary box, working with Fox Sports.

In 2009, Leigh moved out of the football world and into corporate life as Director of Kode Entertainment Group – a Melbourne based Event Management Agency specialising in corporate incentives, travel and global events.

For the past 2 years Leigh has been working as a professional pilot with TigerAir Australia. Leigh met Geoff (Founder of BTO) on a Sydney flight they operated recently and was immediately inspired by his amazing dedication to the children of Ethiopia and Nepal.

Leigh is the proud father of Thomas and Lily and along with his wife Alexandra are looking forward to being involved with Beyond the Orphanage.
