Here’s to you – The givers… Together, we did this.

It takes a certain kind of person to make a difference in the world. To choose to help others. To fight for good. When we put the call out earlier in January to help with John’s surgery, we were touched by the donations and the messages of support. Good news, we hear you ask?

Last Friday marked 30 days exactly since John’s surgery. On that very day, he had his 2 catheters removed and the surgeons were able to determine whether the operations were successful and to what degree.

We received the message from Lenore below:

After four years of searching Surgeons in Kenya with no success and many moments of despair when dire predictions were made about his condition, this has been a miracle. John is now a whole and normal person ready to join life with others his age.

As the stars would have it, the day John left the Institute was the Festival of Holi in Nepal and India. Holi is the Hindu festival celebrating the victory of good over evil. No matter whether you’re a Hindu, Buddhist, Christian or Muslim, everybody is invited to celebrate the festival by dancing on the streets and throwing brightly coloured powder.

We will leave you with some amazing photos taken by Lenore on the way to the airport in Mumbai, and again we thank you for all you did to change this young man’s life.

Do you remember John? John was the smallest of the street boys driven to the streets of Nakuru, an outer town of Nairobi, and left abandoned, unwanted by his step mother. We fundraised in January to send John to India for life saving surgery.
