In the US alone, a new survey from the National Retail Federation (NRF) projects U.S. consumers will spend a total of $18.2 billion on Valentine’s day this year. Over $4 billion of that will be spent on jewelry alone, with another $2 billion on flowers. We are also expected to spend on cards, clothes, and an overall nice evening out on February 14th.

In Australia, a study found Australians are set to drop a whopping $253 million on Valentine’s Day. This equates to a spend of approximately $315 per person on gifts for their significant other.

Well, Valentine’s Day. Is it a “ridiculous” concept or “A day to stop and think about love”?
