Beyond The Orphanage is a nonprofit with a belief in the strength of family and community. That’s why we’re so excited to announce that Beyond The Orphanage ambassador and talented musician, Matt Boylan-Smith, will be hosting a live music event in his hometown community of Bathurst, NSW!
The music showcase, Troubadours for Change, will be opened by Bathurst Mayor, Gary Rush, and the evening will be hosted by Matt Boylan-Smith himself.
“It can be difficult to find a place for artists to showcase original music”, says Matt. “The Bathurst Regional Council and I put this event together, because we’re looking forward to our community coming together to support local music.
“Ticket proceeds from the night will be donated to Beyond The Orphanage. I think that’s a fantastic thing, because this event is all about community, and we get to take that sentiment and help spread it across Nepal and Ethiopia.”

Beyond the Orphanage: our work
Here at Beyond The Orphanage, we work in both Nepal and Ethiopia. Our work is primarily to ensure that children who have been orphaned are supported can continue living in their community. Children live with extended relations or with neighbours. Kids are also supported to go to school, get after-school tutoring, and have regular access to psychologists or social workers.
“No matter where I travel with music,” says Matt, “I love that I can call Bathurst home. I think everyone deserves access to the sense of belonging that only community can bring.”
